The main priority of Hungary’s foreign economic diplomacy is to support the country’s export activities and to attract foreign direct investment. The Embassy of Hungary offers support for Hungarian businesses interested in entering the Canadian market, as well as for companies located in Canada wishing to acquire information on the Hungarian market and also for businesses wishing to expand, invest or re-invest in Hungary. 

Situated in the very heart of Europe, Hungary is a bustling business hub providing a strategic location for companies. Hungary is an open economy with particular emphasis placed on encouraging foreign direct investment. Benefiting from its highly skilled worfkforce, the central location and advanced infrastructure, the country is regarded as an ideal production location in addition to being an advanced manufacturing and innovation centre. To enhance corporate R&D activities and the realisation of technology intensive investments, Hungary has introduced new forms of incentives that support existing businesses as well as those wishing to set up operations. Hungary’s traditional strengths in science and technology, its knowledge base, supplier network and favourable business environment make not only Budapest but also the rural regions an increasingly attractive location for foreign investors. 

The highly developed transportation and logistics infrastructure provides a key link between Europe and the radiply expanding markets of the East. The country earned its name as a cost competitive manufacturing base in Europe and is now regarded as an ideal production location as well as a remarkable advanced manufacturing base. Shifting toward an innovation-focused economy and, in order to accelerate digital transformation, new forms of incentives have been introduced to enhance the realisation of technology intensive investment projects. 

The Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency- HIPA* offers high quality professional services for investors and exporters supporting the Government’s investment promotion targets and fostering bilateral international trade relations. 

HIPA seeks and maintains contacts with potential foreign investors, helping them to prepare and implement strategic investment decisions, as well as providing post-decision support and encouraging their intention to re-invest. HIPA also offers company and sector-specific consultancy, recommends locations, and organises site visits.
