How can the Honorary Consul help you?
Honorary consuls protect the interest of Hungarian citizens in trouble or distress, e.g. they can offer assistance in case of a lost, stolen or damaged passport. They are authorized to authenticate signatures and copies of documents as well as to authenticate the signature on requests for certificates of good conduct and vital statistics certificates mailed in to the Embassy, unless indicated otherwise. They may receive passport applications from children under the age of 12.
In other types of cases -especially in citizenship and visa applications- honorary consuls have no authority. In these cases, please get in touch with the Ottawa Embassy or the Toronto Consulate General even if it is only information you are seeking. You may also check if there are upcoming extramural consular days near you.
